Witchualistic is a local cooperative multiplayer party game designed for 2-4 players. It was developed during the 2016 Global Game Jam at the Microsoft building in NYC, and took home 3rd place in the local competition.
Though currently a prototype, the game demonstrates my love for crafting a local multiplayer experience that encourages simultaneous cooperation and competition. The game involves a group of witches trying enact the rites and incantations for a summoning ritual. Each player has to correctly input a series of commands and prompts (sometimes simultaneously) to move on to the next part of the ritual. Each action the players perform is supposed to mirror a physical action performed by the witches (i.e. - rotating the analog stick should feel like grinding ingredients with a mortar and pestle). The original design goal was to make the gameplay feel like the players were participating in something bigger than themselves.
We're going to keep this little game on our shelves while we continue to work on other projects, but hope to come back to it one day in the future.
An official spotlight of the game can be found here on Playcrafting NYC's offical website: https://www.playcrafting.com/global-game-jam-2016/
